The hot weather has finally arrived, we are currently experiencing temperatures in the high 20’s. Next week could even hit the mid 30’s. I have given up watering the lawn, as much as I try to make it look healthy and green each day it just seems to get browner. With no rain forecast and the potential hose pipe ban I’m leaving it. Knowing that it will come back and look fabulous once again.

The best place to sit and enjoy this amazing weather is by the river with a breeze. Take a cool drink enjoy the relaxing chairs and watch the river antics. People in boats, on paddleboards, in kayaks, on jet bikes or even just having a dip in the water. You could take the ferry down to Hengistbury Head and have a lovely day on the beach with a lunch stop at the Beach House where you can enjoy paella, pizza’s, burgers or pitta wraps and finish off with a dual flavour Mr Whippy – my favourite.

There are some exciting events coming up in Christchurch. On Saturday 6th August we have Stompin on the Quomps, a free annual jazz event for the whole community to enjoy. Bring a chair, rug and picnic and enjoy the music from midday until 10pm stompin.org On Sunday 7th August will be the RNLI Mudeford Lifeboat Funday starting at 10am until 6pm. This will be taking place on Mudeford Quay, there will be a fun fair, family themed stalls, raft race, duck race and much more. The event is free, but it would be great if you could help in supporting the station through donations. The next major event is the Platinum Jubilee Bournemouth Air Festival, from Thursday 1st September to Sunday 4th September. As well as spectacular day and dusk flying displays there will be plenty going on both land and sea. The stalls on the promenade start at Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier with lots to eat, see and take part in. Another great free event for the whole family to enjoy.

Throughout August be prepared to be dazzled by the Friday Night Fireworks at Bournemouth Pier. On Poole Quay, Tuesday evenings, the Dream Machines, motorcycle event will be displaying. The event creates a unique, exciting atmosphere as bikers and spectators enjoy a relaxed evening on Poole Quay. The backdrop of the quay and harbour offers the perfect location and there is a great selection of waterside cafes, bars, restaurants and food kiosks offering refreshment, many with bike night specials on their menus.
