Spring has sprung, but April showers can sometimes put a damper on your outdoor plans. A little rain doesn't have to mean a boring day.

Coming up is Jazz by the Sea, a fortnight of Jazz music at venues across Bournemouth, Poole and the wider area. There’s a great depth of talent in the local area and the intention is to promote these artists as well as offering a mix of national and international artists to perform at the festival. There will be a number of host venues holding Jazz style events at popular pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and shops. Also coming up is the Original Shake and Stir, a vintage festival from Friday 29th June until Sunday 1st July in Southbourne. The main festival takes place in Fishermans Walk and Southbourne Grove on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July there will be a whole host of live music to entertain the crowds over the weekend together with a display of vintage and custom cars and bikes. http://www.originalshakeandstir.co.uk/
At the Hengistbury Head Visitor Centre there is a huge amount happening, from a Pottery Club every Tuesday, to an informal group of writers of all abilities on the first Tuesday of the month, sand art sessions on various dates, fossil art 23rd June, 28th July 11th August and 25th August (£5 per head no need to book), Sketching the Head Sunday 8th July (booking essential), Needle Felting for adults Tuesday 17th July (booking essential), By the Sea, children’s art and craft workshop (booking essential). It really is a great place to visit, with lots of information about Hengistbury head, the flora and fauna and the history of the area.
