May 2022

It is now mid-May, where has that time gone. We have had some beautiful weather during April and May, apart from today as I write this blog it is pouring down. I am sure the garden, plants and lovey baskets, I have just bought are thankful for.

Have a look at this short clip of Christchurch which showcases this stunning area and places to see https://youtu.be/lLRyAeD5A84 It really is a superb place to visit.

Next week see’s the start of the various events coming up in Christchurch staring of with the Cheese and Chilli Festival at Bournemouth Airport 28th and 29th May. An array of lovely cheese & chilli available for you to sample and purchase, supported by some of the UK's leading growers, makers and manufacturers of cheese and chilli related products. It’s a chance try something new and learn something about these fantastic products. There will also be live music, cooking demos, entertainers and more!

The Chilli Eating Competition takes place each day at around 4pm. It’s quite a sight to see grown adults struggle to eat tiny fruits and hilarious to see the consequences! The winner of the competition is the person who can stay in the game the longest! If you are mad enough for the challenge, you need to contact: https://cheeseandchillifestival.com/locations/christchurch/

Christchurch Food Festival https://christchurchfoodfest.co.uk/ takes place from 2nd to 5th June, a great family friendly atmosphere on the Quomps. There is a wide variety of interesting market stalls and food to go offerings, a great place to support what the local industry has to offer. One of the highlights of the festival is the Chef Demonstration theatre, this year some top local and national chefs will be displaying their culinary skills, and make your mouths water…

The Sheep Show, at the food festival, brings real live sheep to the festival with fun, educational and inspiring entertainment for all the family. Learn about different breeds of sheep, such as ‘Nobby’ the Norfolk Horn, and all their different attributes; watch a live sheep shearing demo and learn how wool from a sheep’s back becomes a jumper, discover all the products that wool is used for (including lanolin, used in cosmetics and lip balm!), and don’t miss your chance to see sheep dance “The Sheep Show Hustle”!

This year there will be a Cake Competition, to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen who will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the country and the Commonwealth. To help celebrate the Platinum Jubilee there will be a big screen TV to show highlights of some of the events and community activities.
